Poker Stars CEO, Gabriel Campos is leaving his position on February 1 after less than two years. The information was leaked by legal consultant and poker player Wendeen Eolis. The news was confirmed later by Poker Stars in a short press release. The statement also noted that the company is looking for Gabi Campos’ successor.
It is not known yet what are the future plans of the CEO. It is well known however that the Israeli-born Campos previously managed technology companies, and before that, he has been working for Mossad, the Israeli secret service.
After the surprise departure of the CEO, speculation arised in poker circles. Some say, Poker Stars is running out of money, that’s why they are forced to discard high-profile colleagues, but others think that the move was generated by internal struggles at the world's largest online poker site.
The rumors were fueled by the fact that Campos is not the first high-ranking leader of Poker Stars, who recently left the company. Not long ago John Duthie, founder of the European Poker Tour and tournament director Thomas Kremser submitted their resignations.
